Moon and Bloom’s mission is to empower people and community leaders, like you, with the menstrual health knowledge and tools to flow through life’s cycles with confidence.
The current healthcare and education systems don’t have the capacity to adequately support or educate the 51% of us with periods. Moon & Bloom bridges that gap by providing menstrual and menopause education, body literacy, and compassionate support.
THIS is how we normalize conversations and make the movement towards a period friendly world.
About Heather Litster
Growing up , Heather didn’t have the tools to express the big feels she was experiencing. Sound familiar? As many do, she and her family were doing the best with what they had, but you don’t really know what you don’t know, until you know. Ya know? Anyways, flash forward to her early 20s, and she was experiencing an unimaginable amount of distress due to her inability to support my nervous system. Heather had been going to therapy, groups, and seeing doctors but still - nothing really stuck. She was coping with the world around her the best way she knew how. Substances, being too busy, and unhealthy relationships.
In her mid 20’s Heather knew something had to change, but still didn’t know what it was. So, she moved. Then moved again. Heather signed up for many different micro-courses and only took about 2 of them. The first one was a Holistic Health Practitioner training. The second, was a Menstrual Cycle Literacy course, and these things - these two things - completely changed the course of her life.
Heather grew up in Cambridge, Ontario and moved to Peterborough, Ontario when studying Anthropology and Biology at Trent University. After graduating, Heather moved to Etobicoke for a year before ultimately settling in downtown Peterborough with her partner and two cats.
Heather was a recipient of the Fall 2024 Starter Company Plus Grant.
The Cycles of Change Project was founded by Heather in partnership with Heather Doughty Photography.
The Red Tent is a menstrual equity initiative Heather brought to Peterborough to help reduce period stigma.
Heather Litster was a nominee for the 2025 Luminary awards.

What is menstrual cycle awareness?
Menstrual cycle awareness (MCA) is a practice of understanding the different phases of the menstrual cycle and how they impact daily life. It goes beyond just tracking periods and dives into the physical, emotional, and even spiritual shifts that can occur throughout the cycle. MCA can empower folks to understand their bodies better, make informed decisions about their health, and potentially improve their overall well-being.

Why does menstrual cycle awareness matter?
As of 2016, 1 in 6 Canadians face period inequities. This means that they do not have adequate access to education, resources, healthcare, period products, or sanitation to care for their menstrual cycle in a dignified manner. Menstrual Cycle Awareness helps to reduce menstrual stigma, but to also promote bodily autonomy for folks to make better informed decisions about their body and health.
