ABOUT THE HOST
What is Moon & Bloom?
Moon & Bloom (formerly known as Heather’s Holistics) is an education and wellness business with a mission to bridge gaps in our current health care system. As of today, 1 in 6 Canadians face period poverty and the average time for someone to receive a life changing diagnosis of endometriosis is 7-11 years. Wild! Right? Research shows that reducing stigma helps improve education and decrease period poverty as well as increase and improve quality of research into taboo topics such as menstrual health - and that’s our goal. Less taboo, more yahoo!

TRUTH IS…
All events need a Red Tent
Have you ever been at an event and unexpectedly gotten your period? It’s not an exciting experience occur. Depending on the resources that events have set up, people may or may not be able to care for their bodies & menstrual cycles in a hygienic and empowering way. Moon & Bloom’s Red Tent acts as an educational and/or practical bleeding space
Having a Red Tent at a festival or event is a signifier of care for the menstruating folks at your event. It provides a necessary service to all people who are at the event while menstruating or having premenstrual symptoms and needing care. It offers an incredible opportunity for education while providing a calm, nourishing, and beautiful space for people to relax and connect while at your event. Many people even use the Red Tent as a space to feed or rest their young while out and about. The Red Tent adds a beautiful and unique environment for event-goers to interact within, while encouraging health & well-being, and dismantling old ideals about menstruation that reinforce period poverty (period stigmas).

FAQs
-
Yes! In fact, we encourage it! At the Red Tent we chat about the experience of menstruation through all four phases (or 6 if we include menarche and menopause!). Bring your questions, curiosities, or stories to share with other guests.
We all have something to learn from one another. -
Absolutely! Please do.
51% of the population menstruates at one time or another, meaning that menstruation is not a gendered issue. Having folks outside the cis-woman menstruating experience in the tent helps us all destigmatize menstruation and helps create a more compassionate community.
We also encourage you to come by with your questions and curiosities, because whether or not you menstruate - someone you know likely does. -
No I didn’t! The concept of the Red Tent has likely been around as long as we’ve been menstruating humans! There are different contexts and reasons that folks have hosted Red Tent spaces based on their cultural understanding of what Menstruation is.
Learn more about the history of menstruation here. -
Absolutley! I generally focus on the energetics, physiology, and psychology of menstruation - NOT about sex. That being said, if you have questions, we can definitely go over them while your child is not around.

BEYOND THE TENT
Committed to making an Impact
As an educator, I realized that there weren’t many helpful period photos to help with explaining period stigma and discussing normal situations people face during their menstruating and menopause years.
The Cycles of Change Project was created as a way to bring more publicly accessible imagery of menstruation & situations surrounding periods to the world.
The artist behind these images, Heather Doughty, has given her permission for you to use them as you work in your community to support our mission to end period stigma.
